Under Water

We have had a lot of rain in our part of the midwest in the last few days. Many of my friends have had varying degrees of water damage and water-related trouble. We made out okay, relatively speaking. I have learned that I can Shop-Vac water with one hand while holding a book to read with the other. Leaning on a bookcase in different positions helps with back pain and a stiff neck.

Been continuing with Eat Pray Love. One of the ways in which the book is organized is by country, Italy, India, then Indonesia. I loved Italy. Lots of food and enviable Italian moments. India is just the author meditating in an ashram. I'm kinda glad I'm not there. Too hot. Too many bugs. No veggie burgers and fries. Tons of silent meditation. I'm hoping Indonesia steps it up again and ups my interest.

No more rain, no more rain, no more rain. . .

watching the flooding and devastation on the weather channel and various news channels - crazy! thinking about you all as well as all other friends and family in the area. out west has been warm w/ some minor storms. hoping the system moves on through quickly.

Thanks for the good thoughts, Heather. Hope your parents are safe and dry.

Obviously nothing can come between Christine and a book. But perhaps "Down the Nile" would be more appropriate right now?

I hope the back and the basement are doing better. Hubby got sent home yesterday when the university closed down. I've heard his eyewitness account and seen photos online. I really feel for everyone battling with the power of nature right now. We're very fortunate here - on a hill with no major waterway.

We had too much water! It is crazy! You should see the river! It flooded the road. I know a lot of people got it worse than we did. My best wishes to all those people.
