Tell Me Tuesday

I'm really enjoying Michael Palin's Sahara and can't wait to start watching the DVD of his travels. Should get the first disc in the mail today.

What are you reading right now?

I just finished Son of a Witch yesterday and have but one thing to say about it. Liir? Is a minx.

Have now started The Poisonwood Bible (for the second or third time) and am determined not to be distracted by a shiny object.

Michael Palin? The Michael Palin? Of Monty Python fame? Or am I thinking too wishfully?
I'm reading Little Dorrit, another Dickens novel, which was recommended to me as being one of his best. I can't say I like it as well as Bleak House, or even Great Expectations, but I am enjoying it. DRD

Woo! Did someone say shiny object?

Look! Aluminum foil!

Really, though, I'm glad I picked up SoaW. It was a good, interesting read that lacked Wicked's overtly political tones. It was more coming-of-age, identity-finding stuff, which I was in the mood for.

And I'm beyond thrilled that Liir didn't end up with who I thought he would. She got on my nerves. The person he did have a relationship with was cooler. And they had an awesome, sweet "fade-to-black."

I'm now pretending that Liir met back up with this person and lived happily ever after, because a) he needs some happily ever after, and b) I'm a sucker.

Danika, my freshman high school English class had to read exerpts from GE and we were ready to shoot Pip by the third page. I still have flashbacks. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it, though.

Yes, THE Michael Palin. He's undertaken some major travels and has written about them and had them filmed for the BBC. Nice to see you at B&N tonight, DRD! Erin will soon be back home, too!

Erin, have you never finished Poisonwood?

Martha, are you not reading ANYTHING right now?

*gasp* Christine! But of course I am! But, um, it's the same stuff I was reading last time, so for redundancy's sake, I've failed to mention it *blush*

HOWEVER--I did just watch the (netflix'd) documentary The Deep from the Blue Planet Series and man was it Awwwwwesome!!! Narrated by one Mr. David Attenborough (sp?) and featuring all my favorite superscary deepsea scary fish. It is the most in-depth documentary on the topic I've ever seen. (Not saying they don't exist, but when a British narrator says that this is the first time a certain species of shark has been documented on film, I feel somewhat privileged. The accent man, it makes it. Sidenote: he also pronounces methane "MEE-thane.") I could go on. But I won't :)

(But I want to.)*

*So much so that I ended with a preposition...

Too much shiny, right, Martha?
Good to see you, too, Christine.

Wow, I just heard Kurtz from Heart of Darkness going "The horror..." in my head while I was typing it, too...

Methinks the holidays are already getting to me :)

My parents recently got back from Hawaii and my mom gave me Mark Twain's "Letters From Hawaii." I have a crapload of school work and other stuff to do over break, but I might start reading it tonight anyway. I need to be reading *something*.
