I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
Any plans and promises for your reading in the new year? Maybe you hope to read that series that you've just never finished, try a classic that you've always meant to read, check out a new author. Tell us your reading resolutions.
This year I intend to finish the jillions of books I own that I haven't yet read--there's a ridiculous number of them, and I really ought to finish them, or they're not worth the space they take up.
Oh, boy. Five from more than a hundred? (Yes, I'm pathetic, I know). I guess five that seem likely to get read are That Hideous Strength, by C.S. Lewis; Paradise Lost, by Milton; The Salmon of Doubt, by Douglas Adams; The Mother Tongue, by Bill Bryson; and Dracula, by Bram Stoker. See what an ambitious little critter I am?
OMG Don is online! There is a God! Thank you thank you thank you!
BTW, great topic, Christine. So great that I haven't thought of how to answer it yet. That also may have something to do with the fact that I'm swigging white zinfandel and bemoaning the fact that due to the weather and other unforeseen circumstances, almost no one can make it to my fondue New Year's Eve party. I'm eagerly awaiting my (probably) two guests.
Lisa, I hope that your party wasn't a bust last night! Weather was bad, and if people came, I hope they stayed.
Don's online again? Where? Where? Or did you mistake our young friend DRD (Danika) for Don?
As for my resolutions, I hope to read some more classics, read some authors I've never read before (one of Hemingway's novels? another Melville?some Virginia Woolf?).
Yep, my bad--thought Danika was Don for some reason...sorry Danika, good to see you too. Too much white zin, haha! Now that I think about it, don was "donr" or something, right?
I had three guests at the party last night, and it was pretty fun despite the low turnout...and they stayed 'til about 5 in the morning. I'm a bit of a zombie today.
Still thinking about Don and hoping he's getting better.

DRD, care to list five of them here?
