Open Letter to Don

Dear Don,

I don't know if you're checking your email right now, so I thought I'd just say hello on the blog. Hello. You sure are missed at work.

Everything is really different there. Did you know that we can play whatever music we want now? We all bring in our favorite cd’s and make a list for the music person to play throughout the day. It’s great! It’s like a radio station. I just wish Mark would lay off the speed metal, though. I mean, it’s fine; it just gets to be a bit much. He thinks he can put in extra picks since he’s a manager and all. Big whoop. The dress code has changed, too. We’re all supposed to wear period costumes. Corporate thought it would "enhance the literary experience" for the customers. Jodi is in a hoop skirt almost every day. What a trooper! But the wildest change in the last couple of weeks has been the addition of alcoholic drinks to the cafĂ©. Wow. The days just fly by now. Alphabetizing has been a little rough in some sections of the store, but the staff has never been friendlier. That Ben can sure make a mean mojito!

Sorry to brag about all the great stuff going on at work. Keep getting better and stronger every day so you can come back soon!

Thinking of you,
Christine

I sure do wish Michelle would stop making me put up Jodi Picoult endcaps though. I mean, sure they've been selling, but still...next to Danika's all-Fables mini-mission and Kim's knittin's-and-kittens spread, I just don't know anymore.

It really just makes you think.

Don, I miss you like buttons.

Please come back :*(
(Like I don't know you want to, but still. I have offered to have us come carry you in, like, on one of those things they would do for royalty...you know, those THINGS. Um. Kind of like a glorified gurney...Dammit. Danika, help me out here. Anyway. We'll DO IT.)

FOR SERIOUS. *needs Don back*

The late-night cabaret on the children's stage was nothing more than, well, memorable. Perhaps corporate should consider this as a potential money-maker during the looming recession...?

It's really good to see all those meetings I had with Steve Riggio have finally paid off.

Christine, this was so funny I had trouble putting on my tap shoes -oh, er... oops.

Don, I miss you so much I've had to stay on at B&N for a shift a week this semester just so I can make sure I see you as soon as you come back.
Which had better be soon, or we'll just spend all our time weeping.

I missed a late night cabaret, Sophia? What did you sing? I hope you kept it clean for the Children's stage...
C--have you read Eat, Pray, Love? I've heard it talked up and it is a travel and eating book!
I'm reading Lord John and the Hand of Devils, anything by Diana Gabaldon must be read. My New Year's book list is headlined by Ender's Game. I've promised a certain cabaret artist that I would read it.

Oh, Ender's Game is excellent. You'll love it. Subsequent books in the series are even better, though.

I thought Ender's Game was good too, even for someone not too entralled with a lot of space-related sci-fi.

....and for someone who can't spell enthralled...

Yup, Cook. I read Eat, Pray, Love back in August. Liked it.

You also failed to mention we no longer sell books, minor detail...

Back Spin, do we know you? Cafe? Music? Book floor?
