Travel Reading
It is a bitter 9 degrees in Chicagoland today, and I am enjoying retreats into Frances Mayes's A Year in the World in which she and her husband travel to many places (mostly around the Mediterranean Sea) from their home base in Cortona, Italy. They are currently in Spain, where orange trees apparently grow everywhere you step. Sounds good to me. So does just sitting in a patch of sunlight. And not having dry skin.

Oooh, Spain, :).
The part about not having dry skin actually sounds the most appealing to me right now.
I've taken a hiatus from reading "Letters from Hawaii" to just do holiday/New Year's stuff and to catch up on all my Discover magazines, but now might be a good time to get back to it.

Danica will be pleased to know that our travel reading is between the worlds in "The Subtle Knife". So far we're enjoying it so much more than the "Golden Compass".
Oliv got hung up in Golden Compass; Christmas, other new books, now homework. She hopes to get back to it. Good to know that you think S.K. is even better.
I started with Subtle Knife. Honestly, I wonder if I would have ever loved TGC as much as I do if not for that preview of what was to come. Glad you're all enjoying my favorite trilogy.
