Movie Monday

Well, the family started watching Babes on Broadway with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland this weekend, but the weather was so nice that we never got around to finishing it.

Jim went to see Shine a Light, the new Stones concert film by Scorsese on IMAX, but getting him to write on bookstep is like pulling teeth. He told me that the first 10 minutes are great, the first hour is really good, and then it just kinda runs long.

Seen any good movies lately?

Yesterday was Hitler's birthday, and so we watched some of the highlights from the new "Producers" movie - I love the old one, and enjoyed this one as well

Saw Jackie and Jet's "Forbidden Kingdom".
This movie is so like Star Wars Episodes 2-3 in which you are constantly asking yourself why Hayden Christensen is getting in the way of these people trying to make a good movie. Seriously, this movie needed to lose the whole Karate Kid vibe and just let JC and JL shine.
Unless you're a teen or have a serious Ralph Macchio jones, wait for the DVD so you can skip the terrible modern day scenes and just watch the China sequences. Even being a bit long in the tooth, when Jackie Chan and Jet Li cut loose, you better be watching.

I watched Love in the Time of Cholera, and, while I know it's terribly, terribly wrong of me to base a decision about a book on a movie, I am definately not running for the Gabriel Garcia-Marquez. Really, to make that a book worth reading, the producers of the movie would have had to write their own story and have just randomly given it Garcia-Marquez's title. It was appalling.
