I really liked Bryson's little biography of Shakespeare. It was quick, easy, and interesting. I especially enjoyed the last chapter where he puts to rest all the claims that one man named William Shakespeare could not have written all those plays and sonnets. Funny.
Now I've picked up a new book from Barnes and Noble, a "teen" book of poems in the voices of those who knew Sylvia Plath. It's called Your Own, Sylvia: A Verse Portrait of Sylvia Plath by Stephanie Hemphill. I read about half of it yesterdy. I am not drawn to it because it is poetry. As poetry, it is only okay. I like that it's got so many voices in it and that it is so informative. I've tried to read Plath's journals before and quit because they are so dense and particular to her every day life. I didn't want to read about her many, many high school and college boyfriends. I couldn't keep them straight. But in this wisp of a book, there is just enough about each of the major players in her life to keep me interested.
