Peter Pan - It's a quick read, and I appreciate Barrie's sliding back and forth between reality and imagination

I am reading Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight for my Arthurian literature class. I hate epic poetry, but somehow, this is a lot of fun. I think all the alliteration makes me happy.

Don, the Chabon book for kids involves baseball. This scares me. Is the baseball thing peripheral or integral to the story? Sports. Blech.

Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher. It's a dark, YA novel about a girl who commits suicide, and then confronts by cassette tape the thirteen people she thinks played a role in her decision. I'm enjoying it. But then again, I enjoy anything that makes my life seem angst-less.

Hey, Mel, any good YA nonfiction come your way?

Oh Christine, don't be such a wimp. The book is about baseball like Moby dick is about whaling.

I'm reading:
"Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure" - not as good as I'd hoped, as I Luv old DG.

"Perdido Street Station" - Tough to start but Danika said it was good so by God, I'm gonna read it.

"Maps & Legends" - Michael Chabon's first book of non-fiction.

Bonus for Christine - The first thing Chabon does in his book is quote Herman Melville. You gotta love that, right?

Uh, Don, Moby Dick might not just be about whaling, but they whale a lot. A real lot.

Keep me posted on this new Chabon. I read a snotty review.

And, boy, was it great to see you today!

And it was good to BE seen.
