No Movie Monday

Didn't see a movie to talk about. Just watched clips of That's Entertainment III with the family the other night. Jim did go to see Iron Man and said it was okay.

Now that we've opened up the gates to talk about music, though. . .

Tom Petty has a new album out with his old band Mudcrutch. Very down home Gainesville. Jim compared it to the Allman Brothers. We've been playing it quite a bit. I like it. Love the opening track, "Shady Grove." Don, you like TP, did you pick this up yet?

Since we're talking about Music, how about a new music Monday? Loving Play Radio Play! New band, 80s-ish music.... Give them a listen for something different.
Still working on Atonement. Getting better, but it's a struggle... I keep hoping...

I did listen to the Mudcrutch previews on iTunes, but decided I didn't like it enough to buy. Seemed too much like a vanity project to me. Besides the Petty boxset has some original Mudcrutch on it and that's enough.

Thanks, Mel! We'll talk about Atonement this week. I'm still just in the beginning. Nice avatar.

Another music item: Don introduced me to www.pandora.com some time ago. You put in bands or songs you like and it finds other bands that you might like. You can make your own radio stations that play your favorite stuff. Check it out. Right now I'm listening to my own Beatles/XTC station that I've made.

Now if Mudcrutch were a bunch of women with guitars. . .

Don has a preference for female singer/songwriters.

Except for U2.

Hey, Don, what do you think of the new R.E.M.? We haven't bought it yet. I'm kind of holding out for Mother's Day.

Yay, music discussion!

For once I'm listening to music that was not originally performed on a stage. Two recent acquisitions: the Pan's Labyrinth soundtrack (squee!) and a Billie Holiday CD with songs that I haven't heard before (squee again!).

I actually haven't picked up the new REM yet. I will get it, prolly the next time I find myself on iTunes. And I will check out PlayRadioPlay!

I did just pick up a CD that collects the first two releases from Let's Active. Anybody remember them?

Isn't that a new yogurt?

Christine: don't make me lol when my mouth is full of liquids :P

Also: I am an avid fan of Pandora, with the exception that they only let you dislike so many songs in X period of time. If you try and skip past more than, I don't know, five or so, they don't let you skip past any more. Well SORRRY if I don't like what you pick for me, Pandora, or if I don't want to hear the song until the end. Stop trying to be the boss of me. But at least listening to it isn't breaking any COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT LAWS *gives Don the stinkeye*

In movie news, I just saw the first half of this awesome miniseries that I guess was on the SCIFI series (currently renting from Netflix, and yes, BURNING A COPY OF *suck it Don*) called Tin Man, that is a twist on the Wizard of Oz. It is effing awesome. I highly recommend.

Martha, when Pandora says I've tried to skip too many songs, I just jump to another of my stations.

How many stations do you have?

Don said...

"Thug Life 4Ever" eh, Martha?

Christine: maybe four or five. Why, what's the norm?

Don: You know it! *tips one for her o.g.s*

Christine said...

I don't know, Martha. I have like four or five, too.

Hey, Lisa! Do you listen on Pandora?

Hey Lisa, do you like Alexi Murdoch?

Well, thanks to Christine and her b-day gift to my son, I've been listening to a lot of Hanson (the kids were on YouTube forever last night). Eric, my sig. other, was writhing in pain.
