I don't think the book club happened tonight. I called to say I wasn't coming (I just got swamped with schoolwork that I needed to finish, like, yesterday, and I also hadn't finished the book yet anyway), and Tyler said no one was there anyway.

Does anyone want to post their impressions of The Liars' Club here?

NO ONE WAS THERE???
Only Danika, Erin and I.
We sat, we talked (thanks for the recommendation, kids), we even picked a new book but are debating whether to even tell any of you "too busy" people what it is.
(OK Don, calm down. Don't take it personal.)
Whew. OK, it's Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and we will meet on November 7. All are welcome... unless you're "too busy".
Ahhh, calm...calm...

I'm so glad that Erin went and got to meet Don. Hurrah!

How did you all like the book?

I got through about the third chapter of the book, and it wasn't exactly appealing to me. Don's criticism that she was all over the place with what she knew and what was happening holds true. We all had loads of fun without you lot, though.

Well, I'm only going by what Tyler told me--he said he didn't know you were there and only saw you after he got off the phone with me (I talked to him again this morning). I'm sorry I missed the talk, but I was seriously swamped, and still am. This semester is kicking my butt and I really don't like it.

Don was everything I had heard of, and more. I look forward to further mutual mockery...I mean, calm, mature discussions. Really, though, it was a ball.

Currently reading Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks for the library group. It's sci-fi, so it's not my usual genre. I find myself just smiling and nodding a lot. I'm sure if I were nerdier I could flail at Banks's technical/physics mistakes. There have been a couple points that made me bristle, but I plan to tear those a new one at the next discussion meeting.

P.S. - Thanks very much to Danika and Don for being up for my Atwood suggestion.

I'm glad for the upcoming book (Atwood's Blind Assassin)--I think that was one of the titles I kicked around in earlier discussions of what to read next. I've never read any Atwood so I'm looking forward to it. If I can find the time, that is.
