Twilight Question

Which camp do you fall into?

A. Read it and loved it.
B. Read it reluctantly, but there's just something about it.
C. Skipped it, but might borrow my (fill-in-the-blank's) copy.
D. Think I'll pass.

D. (Sorry, y'all.) I'm not convinced I'd dislike it, but it's just not on my list. I'm glad it's getting people into the bookstore though!

Somewhere between C and D. I've avoided the books like the plague but have cheerfully followed the dramatic by-products online. It's amusing and disturbing at once.

It's fun to see people figuratively frothing at their collective mouths. On the other hand, the issues about authorial wish-fulfillment, absurdly romanticized unhealthy relationships, and rigid, outdated ideas on femininity make me seriously uncomfortable. That the books are promoted as something for mothers and daughters to bond over really gets to me, as well.

I know it's fantasy, and when taken in the right way it's ultimately harmless. I just think that girls should have a lot more to fantasize about than Being Special.

Well, I am in the A to B camp. I loved it, but geez..."Renesmee"? Really, it was pure escapism, and I took it for what it was with little or no expectation. I don't know about recommending it. It was so fluffy to read - I never had to go back over passages to examine the deep meaning.(well, maybe once or twice).
I liked the movie, too...

Pass. This story doesnt interest me at all. There are plenty of other vampire novels out there to read. If i want a vampire story, i dont want a teen heartthrob version.

Is there an "E"?
As in...

E) I don't read Fiction. Let alone popular fiction. Let alone popular fiction that is embraced by a segment I want nothing to do with. Let alone popular fiction that is embraced by a segment I want nothing to do with that Danika said was poorly written. Let alone popular fiction that is embraced by a segment I want nothing to do with and that Danika said was poorly written and had a crappy movie made from.

But I've said enough.
So, is there an "E"?

Now there is, Don.

You just gave us an "E" on the Twilight spectrum.

And I don't think you're the only one there.

Too cheap to buy it myself. Doubtful that I'll get a copy this decade from inter library loan. Then a friend in Florida offers to send her copies of all four books to me.

I guess I'll be reading it soon!

I have to admit that I want to know whether all the hype is warranted.

Gee, Don, do they DAZZLE YOU that much?

Because you're making everyone seriously doubt your commitment to sparkle motion here.
