Rereading Again

When in doubt, go back to a favorite; that's what I always do. I just finished Bella Tuscany for the umpteenth time and now am rereading Under the Tuscan Sun (I know, out of order--doesn't much matter when you know them by heart). I got it on audio through the library so I could knit and listen at the same time and was disappointed to find that the five-disc version is actually abridged. Duh. It's not that long of a book. They cut a few sentences here, a paragraph there. I could see abridging it to make a very short two-disc version, but fully done, it would probably be just six discs. Why the odd cuts?

What books do you return to over and over for comfort, or as Don says, "to jump-start your reading" when there doesn't seem to be anything new and good to read?

Well Christine, now that I see how you framed your question I will have to go with "The Eudaemonic Pie" by Thomas A Bass, that ol' standby "If at All Possible, Involve a Cow: The Book of College Pranks" by Neil Steinberg or anything that involves Bertrand Brinley's "Mad Scientist Club".
Or maybe just a good dog detective novel?

Haha, okay, Don, I'll come to the desert wilderness so you won't feel so lonely.
I haven't been at a loss for what to read for a long time, and haven't had much time for rereads except those required for class probably since I started at Northern. But when I really can't find anything, I usually pick up Calvin & Hobbes. Any of the collections will do, and after I read through one of them I'm usually ready for something else.

I frequently re read graphic novels since they are easy to pick up and put down. I usually go with Watchmen or random others. I also frequently re read stephen kings books, and there is always perks of being a wallflower...
