Thanks for the Loan, Ben

Oliv and I are both enjoying this book (two bookmarks--we go to bed at different times). I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think I will (sorry, DRD, I know you don't believe in making books into movies). No spoilers here please, but has anyone else read it? Seen it?

Wow. That's a big picture. I'm pretty tech-y, as you can see.

I've seen it--I can't remember but it may have been in 3D. Very good movie! A bit creepy/scary for small children though. I haven't actually read the book, but I suspect I would like it. I bought it as a b-day gift for my second cousin Erin though, a year or two ago. I should ask her if she ever got around to reading it.

It would be quite scary for little kids. I didn't let Maria (8 yrs) see it with Oliv (12 yrs)and her friends last week. Missing parents, creatures with shiny black buttons for eyes, pulpy-white-doughy creatures that are under the control of "beldam," which I read as "bedlam" for the first few times. Cree-py.

It's a great book though, Christine. I read it before it was made into the movie, and of course I saw the movie as well. They change some things for necessity, like the adding of Wybie (a male friend character) in the movie. But it's a great book, and hello, awesome strong female character! But Neil Gaiman is good like that :) *cough 'Tori Amos's influence' cough*

P.S. Have you gotten to the part where the cat is introduced? The cat is my favorite :D (Of course.)

Finished the book. Before Olivia, ha!

My only problem with it is that the bad guys and the bad world are like wheels off--no rules--anything can happen. Same thing I didn't like about James and the Giant Peach. When I mentioned this to Jim he said, "You don't have that problem with Alice in Wonderland. . ." True. Wonderland is wheels off. But I love that.

Speaking of which, I thought that Tim Burton was doing L.C.'s Alice in Wonderland, but he has an original script he's working with. Alice is 19 years old, doesn't remember having been to Wonderland, and goes back. No question that Burton can handle the visuals. It's the story I'm now worried about.
