Used Book Store

Jim and I had a day in Chicago last weekend, and we sought out one of the three Powell's Book Stores in Chicago. This one, one Wabash, is closing September 1st, so everything was 50% off. We spent about an hour inside and came out with these:

Jim:
Above the Line: Conversations about the Movies by Lawrence Grobel ($2)--interviews with Robert Evans, Oliver Stone, Anthony Hopkins and our beloved Gene and Roger.

Me:
A Weekend with Velazquez by Florian Rodari ($2)--This is a picture book that I will use to show paintings and details when I read aloud I, Juan de Pareja to my History Reading Group (Five 11- and 12-year-old girls) this fall.

Adam of the Road by Elizabeth Janet Gray ($1.50)--This is a piece of historical fiction for 5th/6th graders that I might use next time we study the Middle Ages.

Lupercal by Ted Hughes ($2.50)--His second published work of poems, dedicated "to Sylvia."

Meet My Folks by Ted Hughes ($2)--a humorous little book of poems for kids.

A used book store is a wonderful thing!
