I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
Having slogged through half of the dryest book in existence, Exile, Ostracism, and Democracy, for my last paper in my ancient Greek history class, I picked up Terry Pratchett's first book, The Color of Magic, as a reward. It's definitely his first book, but I'm enjoying it nevertheless.
Over Thanksgiving I read "Dewey"-fluffy at times like the cat, but written from the heart, and a lovely tribute to the importance of a library in a small town. I also polished off "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" and am enjoying a long overdue reread of "Ender's Game"-all great holiday reading. Next up a book about a true story of a viking woman.
Martha - I saw online that the author of Dewey has a new cat - a fluffy orange female like Dewey named "Page" - how cute is that? There are videos of Dewey on the internet - showing the library and the Dewey hold and Dewey on his shelf, etc...
