So there I was, carrying an armload of magazines to the backroom at B&N, probably humming some Bee Gees song to myself, when I ran smack dab into a table displaying this new book about Tuscany by Frances Mayes! Wha? Huh? Oh! I think was my exact reaction. I picked up a copy. Whale book is on hold now (not like I was ripping through it--and I'd just gotten to the part about whale hunting, which is so heavy and sad--the mama whales and the baby whales and the spurting of blood through their blowholes--terrible). Take me away to the hills of Tuscany, Frances, with your lovely poetic descriptions and your luxurious lifestyle.

You and your travel books!
If it's as good as Under the Tuscan Sun, you're in for a treat!
Haha, I saw this display the other day and immediately thought of you. I was thinking, "I wonder if Christine has wind of this yet. Uh, probably." I might have been wrong! So let us know if it's as good as "Under the Tuscan Sun." I haven't read any Mayes yet and I'm wondering which I should read.
Lisa, I can pass on a copy of Under the Tuscan Sun to you if you'd like to read it. With the traveling you've done, you'd probably love it! Let me know.
Hey Mary--cool, I'd love to borrow your copy! Thanks for the offer!
Hey Mary, in case you check this entry, I just wanted to let you know that I picked up the book in the break room on Thursday! Thanks so much--I'm gonna try to start reading it soon and have it read within a few weeks (probably after I input final grades for the semester).
