I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
I never read mass-market romance novels, religious fiction, or serial fiction.
I sometimes read memoirs/short essay collections like Mary Karr's _The Liar's Club_ and anything by David Sedaris, and quirky humor books like Amy Sedaris' _I Like You_ and Maddox's _The Alphabet of Manliness_.
I mostly read well-received stand-alone fiction (_Middlesex_, _The Double Bind_) and interesting historical or scientific nonfiction (_Devil in the White City_, _Woman: An Intimate Geography_, etc.).
I now avoid harlequin type ( ah youth). I read fiction, historical fiction and fantasy. I admit reading has always been an escape so I like to really escape.
I never read books about serial killers. Enough with the serial killers. I guess that wipes out about 80% of the fiction that's out there now.
I sometimes read historical fiction and nonfiction. Fictionwise, I really enjoyed PARADISE ALLEY by Kevin Baker. It's about New York at the time of the civil war riots. Recently I read THE RISING TIDE by Jeff Shaara, the first book in a planned trilogy about World War II. I'm sure we win. In the nonfiction category would be THE BRONX IS BURNING, about New York in the summer of '77. Of course it covers the Son Of Sam, a serial killer. I also like DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY(which concerns a serial killer), But I liked ISAAC'S STORM, also by Erik Larsen, better.
I never read manga. I still don't know how to pronounce it. Is it like, "I'll have chimichanga," or,"Hang that dress on a hang-a"?
I sometimes read with a little cheap booklight when I'm next to my sleeping daughter and she moves around a lot and I get tired in the same position and the little booklight's battery cover is really sensitive and when I bump it the light flickers.
I never read romance novels. Though I nearly did swipe one from the library's free paperback section, if only because of the huge purple spandex-covered arse on the spine. That's a necessary addition to any home bookshelf.
I sometimes read serial killer books, largely because of my background in criminal justice. That, and a really warped mind, I suppose.
I mostly read knitting books these days, and mysteries (total escapist fluff), and history books. Loves me a good oral history.
Oh, and I'm still reading the seventh Harry Potter book. I was going along at a really nice clip until I had guests for a week in August, and that threw quite the monkey wrench into my reading habits. Meanwhile, I've had to keep my head buried in the sand every time anyone mentions Harry Potter, lest I inadvertantly overhear a spoiler.

Well alright-y! We're off to a good (and early) start! Keep 'em comin'!
I never ever, ever, ever read harlequin-type romance (but I don't mind a bit of romance in a good fiction book).
I sometimes read sci-fi or fantasy (Greg Bear, Arthur C. Clarke, Orson Scott Card)
I mostly read historic fiction, fiction and non-fiction (well that narrows it down doesn't it?)
What about you Christine?
I never read stories about football coaches.
I sometimes read instruction manuals for computer games and trashy vampire stories. And books about art and marketing - yech.
I mostly read what my mom and friends give me to read. I think that would be the well-received stand-alone fiction mentioned above.

Aww, you guys know what I mostly read.
Yeah, we've seen your stash of Harlequins.
Christine, about the pronunciation of "manga."
It depends on who you ask. Some people say it "main-ga," with a long "A." Some say it "mahn-ga," with a soft "A" as in "ahh." Either one will work.
Yes. I'm a nerd. Feel free to point and laugh.
I never read....abridged copies.
I sometimes read...anything else.
I mostly read...fiction.
Technically, the correct pronunciation is "mahnga," but people may or may not call you snobby for saying it that way. DRD
chi-mi-changa
Don. You don't want to play, or what?
Yeah, come on, Don. You know Christine can't post again until you say something, and Movie Monday is coming up. DRD
