I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
I'm reading on Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur, which I should have been reading a month and more ago, and wishing I was continuing with Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, which I was working on a month and more ago.
Just about finished with Fool Moon, and I got myself a shiny new copy of His Dark Materials with all three books in it.
Danika, I've started reading the Fables graphic novels. Holy smoke. So completely and totally up my alley. I'm fangirling Snow White in a way that can't possibly be healthy. And it's really interesting to see the little changes in drawing style from volume to volume. Big thank you for the recommendation.
I just finished The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. He's a Carnegie Mellon computer science professor who recently found out that he has pancreatic cancer and about 6 months to live. He was asked to deliver a lecture about life and what he's learned. It's a pretty amazing book, and it arrived on what I thought was an incredibly rotten day. Turns out.... not so rotten in comparison. So karma, I thank you for the subliminal message. Noted. Atonement also arrived today, so I've started. I can do this!
Let other people talk? Who on earth would want to do that? So glad you like Fables, Erin. I've been in agony waiting for the next book in the series to come out (June). There's also a spin-off series called Jack of Fables which is a lot of fun in a similar vein (though no Snow White, I'm sorry to say).
Danika, I'll have to look for the companion books. I like Jack a whole heck of a lot. My favorite male, though? Prince Charming. Seriously. He's like a cat. Totally selfish in every way and has no shame about it whatsoever.
I'm still being lame and just catching up on my Discover Magazine subscription. Some interesting articles in there though...could we perhaps harness enough geothermal energy in the future to solve our global energy crisis? It remains to be seen!
I do need some good fiction though...I'm still contemplating picking up Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and I still want to read at least one book by Jodi Picoult so I can see what all the fuss is about. Oh, and does anyone know any good books about John Dillinger, the infamous Chicago bank robber from the 30's?

Still Chabon (going slowly) and Perdido Street Station.
What do you think of PSS? Or are you not willing to comment until the end?
Interesting,so far... and not really what I expected.
And besides saying that it's going slowly, I haven't heard what you think of the new nonfiction Chabon.

Atonement. I am looking forward to a book called "Suite Francaise" - I probably got that name wrong.

It's too soon to tell, C. I'm only a chapter or two into it.

Aww, but Boy Blue! He's so loveable.
