Hi all, Don here. Danika (drd) and I were talking the other day and thought it would be fun to engage Christine's blog readers in a real sit-down, in-person book club. As we are almost all local, it should be very doable and fun!
After much deliberation (It was SO like American Idol! You shoulda seen it.), we decided that the first book should be:
Dandelion Wine
by Ray Bradbury
Paperback ISBN:0553277537
Here is a synopsis-
"The summer of '28 was a vintage season for a growing boy. A summer of green apple trees, mowed lawns, and new sneakers. Of half-burnt firecrackers, of gathering dandelions, of Grandma's belly-busting dinner. It was a summer of sorrows and marvels and gold-fuzzed bees. A magical, timeless summer in the life of a twelve-year-old boy named Douglas Spaulding—remembered forever by the incomparable Ray Bradbury."
A couple of us have read this and think it would be a very good choice for us to begin with. It's a pretty quick read and very accessible.
For the discussion, we are planning to meet Monday, June 23rd at 7:00 PM in the café at the bookstore. If you're not clear on which bookstore where, ask Christine.
Please post any questions here and we'll do our best to answer them.
Here's hoping everyone can join in!

Yes! And rumor has it Tyler bought the book last night. I wonder how many copies we have in the store?
I'm in...I am going to look for the book online
Someone's going to have to give me a little bit more of a plot summary. It's not grabbing me yet...
I was just in the store today and it said we had one copy and two on order, but I couldn't find the one copy it said we had (unless it was on hold). I'm going to check the library tomorrow, ;).

I saw a copy on the shelving cart on Sunday, Lisa.
And Martha, it's warm and happy and fun and probably way too slow for you. You could still read it for the comeraderie.
Gee Martha, if only there was a place you could go and take a quick look at it. Like maybe on your NEXT BREAK!
Aha! So *that's* where it was. Why didn't we think to look there?
~Lisa
If I can get my hands on a copy, I'm in.
