Jim and I watched most of the documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) last night. We love our documentaries, and this one is pretty interesting. Who would have thought that a band like Metallica would hire a "performance-enhancing coach" to help them through their power struggles and creative differences? The filmmakers set out to capture the making of an album (St. Anger) but ended up getting a band in therapy sessions and dealing with Hetfield's almost one year absence due to rehab for alcohol. At times, going to work for the members of Metallica resembled clocking in at any unpleasant job and dealing with passive aggressive and petty co-workers. Hard rockin' apparently isn't all it's cracked up to be.

fascinating - big business...I like the idea of a performance enhancing coach
Finished watching it after B&N last night. I enjoyed watching them audition for bass players. Trujillo plays like a demon. He seems like a great fit for the band. Good movie.
