Tell Me Tuesday

Let's see how many people will tell us what they're reading!

Dune by Frank Herbert - abandoned, unfinished, for various reasons, not least of which because Paul is by definition insufferable.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin - on hold, being picked through in spare moments now and then.

Currently in the middle(ish) of A Star Called Henry for Postcolonial Lit. class.

Just finished Cynthia Ozick's newest novel, Foreign Bodies. The idea was to retrace Henry James' The Ambassadors as "a photographic negative in which the plot is the same but the meaning is reversed." I had not read James, so I'm sure I'm not appreciating it as I should. The book was good, but not nearly as good as The Shawl or Cannibal Galaxies, both of which I absolutely loved.

Is anybody going to read that "33 Men" book? I'm rather interested, but I have quite the queue as it is...

"Traveling with Pomegranates" by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor. It's for the World Traveler book club at the Library. The memoir is written by both mother and daughter about their travels around Greece and France, and about their developing relationship.

Good stuff, especially if you have a Mom, or are a Mom.
