I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
"Great" gets thrown around a lot. I take movies way too seriously, so it's like pulling teeth to get me to say a movie was great. The five greatest movies I've ever seen are: Casablanca Duck Soup Goodfellas The Searchers Schindler's List I know that wasn't the question, but there you have it. The last great movie I saw was The Incredibles. Yes, I'm serious.
Not being much of a connoisseur of movies, I'm not sure I'm qualified to judge "great" ones, but there were a bunch of Hitchcock films on last week, and I really enjoyed The Man Who Knew Too Much. DRD
There are not many movies that I'd want to see more than once. So for me, "great or good" would have to be defined by the fact that I would spend my time re-watching. Here are a few: LoTR Trilogy (I know, you don't have to say it.) The Patriot Frequency The Bourne Identity Forrest Gump Finding Forrester Sneakers Knight's Tale

really liked "Once" and for the best one in the last year i'd have to go w/ "Little Miss Sunshine".
I'm waiting for Once to come to the cheapie theater here. I still haven't seen it. Last great recent movie I saw was The Queen with Helen Mirren.
Also waiting for Once to make it to the local theater.
Last great movie I saw was Pan's Labyrinth. Dark, intense, downright grim in places, but with a core of strength and hope. Totally up my alley.
So hard to say...must think..."The Queen" was a good one. Hmmmm...
"Lives of Others" was a good one, too.
Can I list a comedy. My family laughted through the entire film Wild Hogs. I can't remember a really good "serious" film recently.
I just watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind the other day for the first time and loved it.
Recently I watched "Seven Days in May" about an attempted military coup to take over the U.S. 1960's film. Burt Lancaster.
