I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
Just picked up The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri the other day and I'm reading it whenever I get the chance. Her writing reminds me of Amy Tan's; they both have this gift for clean, concise, elegantly simple prose. Love it.
And having just read A Midsummer Night's Dream for my directing class, I can say that, if given the opportunity, I would cheerfully smack the daylights out of Helena.
Cooksin, did you also read The Namesake? I saw the movie. Pretty good. Agree with Sophia that the movie thought it was about the young man but really should have been about the mother. It's her story.
I've only read about 5 pages of the Namesake. Read some of F. 451. Finished Marley and Me. Am reading The Talking Earth by Jean Craighead George with my science class and loveing it.
