I often have a few books with bookmarks in them at once. I enjoy classics more than contemporary works of fiction, often read historical fiction, and love to get glimpses into other people's lives by reading memoirs and biographies.
It's Tuesday, and if I know you, you're reading. What'cha got for us?

Still not reading as much as I should be. Too much to do during Spring Break! Spring cleaning, my taxes, visiting family, schoolwork...blah.
I am still catching up on my Discover Mags though...and I'm contemplating starting Chances Are: Adventures in Probability. I have a nerdy reputation to uphold, after all.
Still working really hard on schoolwork (or so I keep telling myself), and I finished up Resume With Monsters, which was excellent. I've just picked up a Terry Pratchett book, Sourcery, which I am greatly enjoying thus far.
I just got to a 46 on freerice! Woo! Although, I have been as low as 35 as well...I've gotten a lot wrong in a row. That site is so freakin' addictive. Thanks, Don!
I just finished Nim Chimpsky. It's a true story about the chimp who lived with humans in the 70s & 80s and was taught to communicate in ASL as part of an experiment to see if primates could communicate complex thoughts. Actually, it's more about how academic research goes to hell in a hand basket when the funding runs out & volunteers move on to other graduate programs. It was a horribly sad book. The chimp did learn over 150 different signs, used them correctly & spontaneously, and taught them to other chimps.
I also got 44 on freerice.com. Not bad for an Okie.
Don- Can you explain again how this boot diet works? I've been running an average of 3 miles a day for the past 7 weeks and have only lost 11 pounds.
What sweet Mary is referring to is that I've spent the last 3 months flat on my back doing nothing but watching TV and eating and have somehow managed to lose weight. How, I have NO idea. Uh, I mean... the book goes on sale soon. Reserve your copy now!
Still reading "Stars My Destination" - love the book - wild lead character. Sometimes I read a few pages of "Eat, Pray, Love". I dunno. It's okay. She bugs me for some reason. I am going to see how I do on freerice.
Newsflash! I finished Life of Pi and LOVED it! Not preachy like I thought it would be and the alternate (real) ending is such a great twist. All the irritation I felt about events in the book disappeared in light of his "confession". 250lb Bengal Tiger - indeed!! Brilliant. Can't wait to discuss it with our group next week.
About ninety pages to go in The Almost Moon, and I'm fighting an increasingly irresistable urge to reach through the book and smack the daylights out of Helen.
A normal, sane person who was fresh off of doing that would be going to pieces about now. Helen? Goes to her modeling appointment at an art class. I think some of her mother's mental instability rubbed off on her.
I don't buy that stuff about "no other choice" for one freakin' minute. There's always a choice, including the one that doesn't involve, you know, sleeping with your best friend's son just for the heck of it.

Three cheers for insomniac!
Hip - hip...
Such a turn around for you, Insomniac! I couldn't have guessed you'd end up liking the book so much.
Congrats to all you Freericers. I'm stalled at 40 tonight.
Hi Don!

Insomniac- Wasn't that a great ending for Pi?
Erin- Helen gets worse...
