Huck Finn
I really enjoyed reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. It is funny and sweet. I love that Huck finds true family in Jim, the runaway slave. I love it when Jim and Huck are reunited each time after a parting and Jim goes crazy welcoming him back because he thought Huck was dead. I love it when dear old Jim calls Huck "honey," which he does a number of times. I did not love the last third of the book when Tom Sawyer appears and drags out the rescuing of Jim because it would have been too easy, not a respectable enough rescue to brag about. I get that Huck is completely in awe of Tom and thinks him the best adventurer ever, but I don't think that Huck is so naive that he would prolong Jim's discomfort for almost a month in the name of adventure. It is a wild tale with some unbelievable turns, but I never stopped cheering for the two good friends at the center of it. I'm ready for a trip down the river in a steamer myself now.

I also enjoyed it, and kept trying hard to visualize what it all must have looked like. I like how resourceful and clever Huck and Jim can be, and I love the part where Huck tries to pass as a girl, and gets caught...
