Based on a couple of recommendations (mainly Deb's), I've started reading The Help. At first I found the written dialect a little irritating, but I've quickly gotten over it. I've only read the first few pages and I'm looking forward to having time to really dive into it.

School has started once again, so I'm reading a variety of Ancient Greek historians like Thucydides and Plutarch, and am supposed to be rereading The Odyssey. I'm also reading a bunch of books for my gender and sexuality class, which vary from miserable to interesting. The class stays pretty firmly on the former end of the spectrum, but at least some of the reading isn't a total waste.

I am reading "The Red Tent" - yea, I know, finally. I don't have anything to say about it at this point, but it's sensory - she describes many things in terms of taste and smell.

And I am STILL reading "Voyage of the Beagle" - Darwin spends half a chapter discussing a particular butterfly.

OOOH!! Red Tent is one of my all-time favorite books! The detail is incredible. You don't read the story, you live it.
