Tell Me Tuesday

Maria and I are about to begin the Fourth Stave of A Christmas Carol. Today I will read the last three chapters of Around the World in 80 Days to my older history group. In a couple of days, I will read the last pages of Farmer Boy to my younger history group. Clearing the decks just in time to get some new books for Christmas!

What are you reading today?

Christine, I love Farmer Boy! I must have read that a dozen times, and so have our kids. Another one I like to read when it's really knee-deep outside is The Long Winter (also Ingalls-Wilder). She paints such a clear picture of the isolation and desperation of the situation, and of how the family works well together to cope with it.

Yes, Mary. And Farmer Boy is great for the food descriptions. Almanzo doesn't hardly do anything without a donut in one hand and a mug of cider in the other. The kids loved it!

I'm reading The Scar, by China MiƩville. I'm enjoying it, though not quite as much as the previous book in the series, Perdido Street Station. I'm curious, Don, did you ever read the third book in the series, Iron Council?
