I didn't meet my own deadline for reading Plath's Collected Poems, and I quietly took it off my reading list so no one would notice. I am still reading it though, and will just finish it when I finish it. Sylvia won't be mad at me. I'm putting it back on my list for all to see.
I am dropping Apricots on the Nile, not because I didn't enjoy the first quarter of it, but because it is due back at the library today and I don't feel like renewing.
I am enjoying the Barnes & Noble annotated version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Olivia will be in our local university's production of "Midsummer" next week, and I had never read the whole play. A customer at B&N highly recommended these annotated paperbacks that we feature with our B&N "classics." It is very easy to follow. Definitions for words that are now used differently are right next to the text, and supplementary notes are on each facing page.
I finished my first whole book since December last night, Frances Mayes' A Year in the World!
Happy heart day.
Even though I haven't acted like it lately, I heart reading.

So I was all excited because I got a copy of "Eat, Pray, Love" from my sister-in-law...and I had been wanting to read it...and I started it...and...so far...hmmm...it's not holding interest very well. I am going to give it up and read some sci-fi instead, and try it again later....
Please. If I actually read all of the things that I meant to...I'd, uh, have read a lot more, I guess. Seriously, the stack of stuff by my bed grows ever larger. I feel better having them near me, though, because I know that they'll be there in the event that I am able and ready to read them :) (Because you know, sometimes you just have to be in the MOOD to read a book about animals' adaptability to winter weather, or the creation of the Oxford English dictionary...)
I guess I'm wondering,
Where has Christine gone?...
Me too. And how is everyone holding up with regards to the NIU shooting? I'm guessing it has affected the whole community and not just those of us working or studying at NIU...I posted a memorial of sorts on my LJ if anyone wants to visit:

I'm here. Just in shock. And very heavy-hearted.
Thanks, Lisa, for the Livejournal connection.
I'm just gonna keep the book thing rolling here.
