Hey, everybody, what are you reading this week? (real book names and joke book names welcome)

"Running with Scissors". About half way through. As a work of fiction I'd buy it and find it ever so mildly funny. As a supposed memoir I find it unbelievable that one person could have so many insanely screwed up bizarre people in their life. I hope it was cathartic for him to write it, otherwise I see no point. Has anyone seen the movie?(I can't believe they actually made one)

Just finished The Beggar's Opera, the final silly play I will have to read for that class. Also working on Gulliver's Travels, which could be more riveting than it is. Just finished Choke (Palanhiuk) for the Living White Males class. Don't see what the hype is about. Eew. And even though I finished Sons and Lovers, I've still gotta think about it for that lovely 16-page paper . . .

Just finished Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo for Film & Lit. Hated it. Another postmodern novel about an obscenely rich white guy living in New York, having sex with a bunch of women, and being profoundly solipsistic. I didn't care about whatever statement DeLillo was trying to make because he did it in such a way that I wanted to reach through space and time and slap him with a fish.

Just finished "Planet Google" and have picked up "Lost on Planet China". For someone who hates to travel as much as I do, I sure seem to like to read about it.

Finishing up "Bel Canto", but I'll be sorry to let it go. The book has developed a little better toward the middle for me - I am curious to see how it all adds up. They are held hostage for something like 120 days?
